As a local charity, we work with young people who need our help the most. They have often been homeless, experience poor mental health and can lack purpose for their lives.

Since 1846, we have continuously adapted to meet the needs of young people in each generation and the demands of Covid-19 are once again requiring us to deliver services in new and innovative ways.

The consequences of Covid-19 are far-reaching and the young people we support are really feeling the mental and physical effects. From increased anxiety and social isolation, to loosing employment and struggling to access food, we are supporting young people in the ways they need it most.

During the global pandemic, our additional support has included:

  • Increasing our rent bursary fund so residents can access small grants that will help them meet their rent if they have lost employment
  • Collecting prescriptions for those who need medication yet are self-isolating
  • Providing hot meals and food support throughout the winter months

By making either a regular or one-off donation, you will help us maintain our service provision and meet increased local need.

Emergency Food Boost Appeal

In response to an increased need and the decline in physical and mental health of some of our young people, we are providing additional food relief during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, particularly for those at risk of hunger.

Incorporating another cooking session in the week, separate from our existing community meal, we’re going to be making hot meals throughout the winter and delivering them to our residents. We’ll also be including a menu card for them to replicate healthy meals and including fresh fruit to help build their immunities.

Over the coming months we’ll be purchasing food, fresh fruit, new kitchen equipment and allocating more time each week to run the project.

Please note, unless otherwise requested, all donations we received through our website in November 2020 have been allocated towards our Food Boost Appeal.
